Cesar Aira's "Ghosts" is one of the novels nominated for the "Best Translated Book Award" which is awarded by "Three Percent", the online resource for international literature at the University of Rochester. It was translated by Chris Andrews and published by New Directions. We are looking forward to seeing the shortlist!

Lale Akgün's hilarious book "Tane Semra im Leberkäseland" (Aunt Semra in Leberkäse-country) is on the way to become a real bestseller after six weeks on the Spiegel-list. The book tells the story of her family's immigration from Istanbul to Germany in the early sixties until her becoming deputee in the German parliament in 2002.

Statement of the jury: "With his variety of topics, great linguistic quality and brilliant scientific approach the author contributes to a better understanding and to the importance of science for the everyday life. Furthermore Max Rauner provides for the general public a consciousness of science and research."

We are happy to announce that for his novel "La casa de Dostoievski" our author Jorge Edwards was awarded the Premio Planeta Casa América, worth 200.000 Dollars, which is a poetic and melancholic glace back upon the past Chilian century. Ultimately, his novel "Faustino" has been published in German by the editorial Klaus Wagenbach. We are congratulating our author and celebrating with him!

Our author Antonio Ortuño has been honored second best among the award competitors for the reknown Spanish Premio Herralde. This award, which is handed in on the 5th of november by the editorial Anagrama, is one of the most prestigious Spanish prizes given for literature.
Earlier award winners enlist Enrique Vila-Matas, Sergio Pitol, Roberto Bolaño and Juan Villoro among others.
